Mövenpick BalaLand Resort Lake Balaton Sets the Green Standard

Lake Balaton has reached a new milestone in sustainable tourism. Mövenpick BalaLand Resort in Szántód is the first hotel in the region to earn the Green Globe certification, a globally respected benchmark for environmental responsibility in hospitality.

Inspired by Around the World in Eighty Days, this five-star resort combines imaginative design with real sustainability. Backed by Accor’s goal of carbon neutrality by 2050, the hotel uses geothermal and solar energy, aims to cut water use by 45% by 2030, and rewards guests for eco-friendly choices.

From bird-safe windows to eco-conscious wastewater treatment and bike rentals, BalaLand’s approach is comprehensive—and inspiring. This isn’t just a luxury stay; it’s a bold step toward a greener future at Hungary’s favorite holiday destination.

Kempinski Hotel Corvinus, Budapest Unveils Elegant New Rooms

Budapest’s luxury hospitality scene has a fresh highlight. Kempinski Hotel Corvinus has completed a full-scale renovation, unveiling 350 completely redesigned rooms and suites as of May 2025. This marks the final chapter of a transformation that began in 2018, blending contemporary comfort with refined European elegance.

The updated interiors, brought to life by designers like Alex Kravetz and Krisztina Kováts, reflect a balance of modern aesthetics and cultural heritage. From the serene Japandi-inspired Art Collection Suite to the lavish Herend Suite featuring hand-painted Hungarian porcelain, each space is unique. The Presidential Suite, recently named Hungary’s Leading Hotel Suite, is another standout.

Custom furnishings, curated local artwork from the hotel’s own 1,500-piece Corvinus Art Collection, and panoramic views over Erzsébet Park and the Budapest Eye elevate every stay. Add to that the award-winning spa, expanded business facilities, and a €30 million investment, and the result is a reinvention of what high-end city stays can offer.

Uber Celebrates One Year Back in Hungary with Boats on the Danube and a Bold Step Toward Miskolc

Uber’s return to Hungary just marked its first anniversary—and it’s making waves, literally. In addition to over 23 million kilometers traveled in Budapest over the past year, the company is launching Uber Boat, a new sightseeing service that takes passengers onto the Danube for a fresh view of the city. Miskolctapolca’s Iconic Cave Bath Reopens Outdoor Area After Fire

After months of repairs following a damaging fire last September, the beloved outdoor area of the Miskolctapolca Cave Bath —Kagyló Strand (Shell Beach)—has officially reopened just in time for summer. With six pools, lush natural surroundings, and themed sauna sessions on weekends, the bath is once again welcoming visitors eager to relax in one of Hungary’s most unique thermal experiences.

While indoor facilities—including the famed cave pools and medical spa services—remain closed due to roof damage, the reopening of the outdoor section is a major milestone in the bath’s recovery.

The reopening also coincides with full operations resuming at Miskolc’s other major wellness destinations: Selyemréti Strandfürdő and Ellipsum Adventure Bath.

Though visitor limits and timed-entry options are being considered, the partial reopening signals renewed optimism for the region’s tourism. As summer heats up, Miskolctapolca is slowly reclaiming its place as one of Hungary’s most iconic spa getaways.
